Officials in Mexico have brought up a new way to abate the divorce rate, and that is by making marriage temporary! Couples can decide their marriage contract, a minimum of 2 years is required for this bonding. The contract will contain legalese like financial support, how's marital assets are to be divided and who will get the custody of the kids. At the end of the contract, happy or semi-happy couples could opt to renew their contract. Otherwise, they could just walk away without any legal hassles.
This issue is relatively a shock, as Mexico has the second largest population of Catholics. Temporary marriage doesn't sound ethical. Anyway, the Catholic Church isn't very keen of this idea as the authorities strongly believe this reform as absurd and it contradicts with the nature of marriage.
Temporary marriage is also legal in Iran and it can as short as few minutes or as long as couples' lifetime. Contract marriage is considered as a loophole in Islamic law, as it helps to decrease sex out of wedlock. In Iran conduct of aldutery is punishable by whipping to death. ]
Anyway, if marriages too are into contract, where will be the value in it? Marriage are not suppose to be for fun. Or is this how the world thinks currently?
